38-year old Kyle, author of the best-selling book 'American Sniper' about his service in Iraq, and a second man were found dead yesterday at Rough Creek Lodge's shooting range, Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said, according to local newspapers Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Stephenville Empire-Tribune.

Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine who is suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, opened fire on the men around 3:30 pm yesterday, then fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims, WFAA-TV quoted investigators as saying.

Routh was arrested after a brief pursuit, Texas Highway Patrol spokesman Lonny Haschel said. The other victim was named as Chad Littlefield, aged 35, NBC News reported.

"American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US Military History," details Kyle's 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009.

Kyle left the service in 2009 and started his own military contracting firm which provides military and law enforcement sniper training, as well as private security and protection.
