"Our development model should be based on studying issues of the past while keeping a firm sight on the future," Munda said, adding that inequality in all spheres could be removed by proper utilisation of human capital.

Speaking here after releasing a book---'Shoshan, Sangharsh and Sahadat (Exploitation, Struggle and Martyrdom)' authored by senior journalist Anuj Kumar Sinha, Munda equated human resource with mineral resource and termed it as a change agent in removing disparities in the society.

"On one hand power (electricity) is necessary so we have to increase coal production, on the other, how to address the issue of a large section (of) people living there (in the coal belts and the problem of their displacement )? We are moving forward keeping all these issues in mind," Munda said.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto said, "It has been 12 years since Jharkhand's creation, and in my opinion now is the right time to take off developmental issues by addressing needs of all the sections earnestly."

Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, "We are behind in many areas so we have to channel the minds into achieving developmental goals."

Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi asked everyone to take a renewed pledge and commitment to make Jharkhand a poverty-free, prosperous and developed state.

Harivansh, the Editor-in-Chief of Hindi daily the Prabhat Khabar, said resources "should not be a curse."
