"The central government was raking up the issue of providing quota to SC/STs in promotions to divert the attention of people from corruption and injustice being perpetrated on the people," said Dhumal.
Himachal has made spectacular progress in spite of "step motherly" treatment being meted out to the state and the progress of the state would have been phenomenal had the Centre provided required financial assistance to the state, Dhumal told reporters here after presenting the state awards for developmental journalism.
HP had been a victim of injustice under the Congress governments at the Centre and was denied its due share in power projects under BBMB and even after winning the case in the Supreme Court, the Centre was not releasing the arrears amounting about Rs 4,000 crore to the state, he claimed.
"Initially the Centre denied our share, filed an affidavit against our claim in the Supreme Court and now it has reduced the amount of arrears from Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 850 crore, which is unacceptable," he added.
"The central government had agreed to open a hydro engineering college at Bilaspur as joint venture of NTPC, NHPC and SJVN and all formalities were completed but the foundation stone laying ceremony was stalled and the state Congress leaders must speak out as to who was responsible for it", Dhumal said.
He said the BJP was fully geared up to take on the Congress and trounce the party and it was immaterial that who was leading the party.
