The board and its examining committee raised objections to the use of names like Tata, Birla and Ambani in the song 'Mehngai', as it felt it was a personal attack on the country's top industrialists.
Jha said the Censor Board had objected to the lines - "Birla ho ya Tata, Ambani ho ya Bata, sabne apne chakkar mein desh ko hai kaata."
"But we argued that the names we have used are generic. They have been used symbolically as the general public's idea about industrialists' is that they manipulate the government to make profit. That's the thought behind the song. There is no intention to defame anyone. So we suggested we put a disclaimer," Jha told PTI.
Sung by Kailash Kher and picturised on Abhay Deol, the song promo has been released online with the disclaimer that the names have been used generally and there is no intention to disrespect any person or brand.
'Chakravyuh', also starring Arjun Rampal and Esha Gupta, revolves around the Naxal issue. The film is set to be released on October 24.
Jha, with his political and social issue based films, is no stranger to controversy. His previous release 'Aarakshan' had run into trouble over its theme of reservations, while 'Raajneeti' created controversy as Katrina Kaif's character in the film seemed to be inspired by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
