The youth, Ranjit Das, was arrested on the basis of an FIR at the Hemtabad police station by the victim, that she was kidnapped by him from Siliguri More on the National Highway 34 on June 24 and raped, the sources said.
The girl, who had once ranked at a state level athletic meet, returned home yesterday and lodged the complaint with the police.
A local court remanded the youth to 14 days judicial custody.
