"Governor described as appropriate the decision of the state government to recommend a CBI probe into the killing of Sena chief", an official spokesman told PTI.

He said that chief minister Nitish Kumar called on the Governor at Rajbhawan this evening and apprised the latter of the decision taken this morning for a CBI probe into the killing.

The meeting between the two lasted for over an hour, Rajbhawan sources said.

It is understood that chief minister also briefed the Governor about the violence that broke out during the funeral procession of the slain Ranvir sena supremo in the state capital on June two.

Rajbhavan had day before yesterday sought a report from the state home department about the violence and arson that occurred during the funeral processions.

The sena chief supporters had damaged several vehicles, burnt a police outpost and also a couple of government vehicles during the funeral processions from Ara to Patna.

The state home department had on Monday evening submitted the report to the Raj Bhawan with respect to the inquiries.
