'Domestic air passenger traffic growing in India'

Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh shared the details of domestic passenger traffic in the aviation sector in reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

In 2008, 41.27 million passengers had travelled by domestic flights and the number grew by 6.23 per cent to 43.84 million in 2009.

According to the data, in 2010 the number of domestic fliers increased to 52.02 million which further grew to 60.66 million at a growth percentage of 16.61 per cent in 2011.

The Civil Aviation minister said that till March 2012 15.27 million passengers have travelled in domestic flights which suggested a growth percentage of 6.55 over the previous years. PTI ADS
