Meghalaya and Assam police arrested a youth from Guwahati for allegedly aiding the banned Garo National Liberation Army in printing demand notes for the outfit, police sources said today.
The youth Md Sajjid Khan of Hatigaon was arrested and a computer and printer were seized from his possession, West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police R Muthu told PTI.
The arrest followed the apprehension of a GNLA linkman Julius Marak, who served demand notes on coal traders in the coal belt of West Khasi Hills district, last month.
The interrogation of Marak led to a miscreant Kynsai Wahlang near Guwahati and information from him made the arrest of Sajjid possible, police sources said.
Deemed as a terror outfit in January this year, the GNLA has been actively involved in kidnapping, extortion and killing of civilians and security forces in the three Garo Hills districts besides pockets of West Khasi Hills district. PTI JOP
