A majority of the couples who married at the Normal School ground were from the tea tribe community.
Each groom was presented a bicycle by the Lions Club, while other social organisations also gave gifts to the newly weds.
Lions Club project manager Amar Nath Khandelwal said the main motive behind organising the ceremony was to help the financially weaker sections of society.
In the past nine years, Lions Club has organised marriage of 165 couples in Silchar.
