Government officials would launch raids on apartments, trading houses and industries to locate and take strict action against those employing child labour, Labour Minister Chandraprakash Choudhary told a function to mark Anti-Child Labour Day.

"The labour department should also organise awareness programme at panchayat, block and district level against child labour," he said.

The Principal Secretary of Labour department, Vishnu Kumar, said a plan to stop child labour in the state was in the final stages and would be sent to government for approval.

Job Zachariah, chief of UNICEF in Jharkhand, said child labour was unacceptable and there should be a social movement against it. PTI PVR
