Nabam Tuki suggests guidelines for media

Certain ethical codes like accuracy, right to privacy, no incitement to violence, no vulgarity or obscenity and no communal writing should be followed by the media to keep its fair name, Tuki said at the launch of new English daily 'The Arunachal Pioneer' here.

Recounting the history of mass media in the state, Tuki said "Those were the days of the spoken word. We only depended on each other, gossip around the fireplace and the radio for news and information. The times have changed. Today we have seven newspapers publishing from Itanagar.

"I believe with the addition of another member today, the fourth pillar of democracy in our state has grown stronger," he said.

 

He reiterated that in view of threat to media-houses in the state capital the government has decided to provide security personnel during office hours and also install CCTVs in their premises.
