"There is a need for exploring the hidden talent of students in the rural areas and providing them opportunities to prove their mettle at the national and international levels," Rana said during an event at Dansal, about 35-kms from here, yesterday.
Students of rural areas are second to none in the capacity and capability to make their mark on the educational spectrum, he said.
Omar Abdullah-led government is giving priority to universalisation of education and has ensured greater accessibility for students living in far-flung, remote and backward areas of the state, said Rana.
About two dozen degree and technical colleges along with various university campuses and scores of polytechnic and ITI institutions have also been opened across the state to achieve this goal, he added.
