Mandviwalla informed the National Assembly or lower house of Parliament during Question Hour that the funds were provided from the US Coalition Support Fund (CSF).

Receipts from the CSF had become part of the federal consolidated fund and some of the funds was given to the armed forces while the remainder was used for budgetary support, he said.

Giving a break-up, the Mandviwalla said the country received Rs 20.37 billion in 2007-08, Rs 17.6 billion in 2008-09, Rs 53.168 billion in 2009-10, Rs 44.595 billion in 2010-11 and Rs 28.6 billion in 2011-12.

The US had held up payments from the CSF in 2011 after relations between the two countries plummeted to a low in the wake of the unilateral American military raid that killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in the garrison town of Abbottabad.
