"The ASI has been sent to police custody till January 16. We have started investigation. A medical examination on the woman has been conducted. The woman has given a statement that the ASI had raped her on earlier occasions also," Joint Commissioner of Police (HQ) Javed Shamim said.
Asked whether the woman was mentally challenged, Shamim said, "Whether the victim is mentally retarded or not will be decided by the doctors. We can't decide it."
The ASI of Hare Street police station was arrested yesterday on the complaint of the victim's father.
