Presidential elections in Arunachal

Parliamentary secretary for Home Gadam Ete could not cast his vote as the result of election in the 2009 assembly poll from Aalo West constituency was set aside by the Gauhati High Court on June one and and his nearest rival Duter Padu of Trinamool Congress elected with immediate effect.

Duter Padu also could not cast her vote as she was yet to be sworn in as MLA.

Trade and Commerce Parliamentary secretary Phosum Khimhun cast his vote in Delhi.

The ruling Congress has 46 MLAs, the Trinamool Congress and NCP has five each followed by BJP three and a lone Independent.

 

While the NCP, TC and the Independent supported the candidature of UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee, BJP legislators supported the candidature of Purno A Sangma.
