The 2008 action-thriller film 'Race' directed by Abbas-Mustan explored the theme of sibling rivalry, betrayal and passion.

"I think 'Race 1' was brave film though it had crazy plot points and twists and turns. It was an adult film, it had lot of intimate scenes... It was a bold film for the Indian audience," Saif said.

"The makers thought to have a sequel and wanted a universal film... So, we have U/A certificate this time because of better action and glamour. You can watch this film ('Race 2) with mother and sister. It is a universal thriller film," he added.

The action thriller film directed by Abbas-Mustan has an ensemble cast that includes Anil Kapoor and Saif reprising their roles from the previous film.

While Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel are new additions to the cast.

"'Race 2' starts almost where the Race 1 ends. It drives out of one frame and drives into other frame. It is not important for you to see 'Race 1' to enjoy the second part," he said.

"It is my first sequel. We were fortunate that Bipasha, Katrina, Akshaye Khanna, Anilji were in part one of 'Race'. But 'Race 2' is a different film and required different set of actors and I am happy to work with all of them. I am sure with the kind of story line it has, the audience will like it," he said.

The film is set to release on January 25.
