Rs 200 crore organic farming scheme launched in Karnataka

The government had earmarked the amount in the budget to encourage organic farming and 5.28 lakh farmers would benefit from the scheme, Shettar said.

The scheme was expected to be implemented in four lakh hectares, he said and exhorted farmers to come forward to make the programme a success.

Farmers would be sent to Cuba and Israel to study the organic farming model in these countries, he said.

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa also attended the programme.
