Mondal told the assembly that 192.25 acre have been acquired for the airport and handed over to the AAI and 32 acre belonging to the army was under negotiation with them. The project was to be completed by December 31, 2014, he said.
The transport minister said an Instrumental Landing System has been installed and the obstacle survey for the ILS has been sent to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for clearance.
On the demand for revised compensation to land owners, Mondal said an additional Rs 11.44 crore has been sought.
The government had paid Rs 50.62 crore as compensation to persons whose lands have been acquired for the airport expansion project, he said.
The minister said that Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited recently agreed to set up a refueling centre at the airport to facilitate its full operationalization.
