'Strict action if officials do not address water logging prob'

Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, at a meeting with top officials of concerned departments, said the government has taken very serious view on water logging and would not tolerate any type of negligence on part of any official.

"Strong action would be taken against officers who are found negligent in performing their duties efficiently to address the problem," he said.

Addressing a meeting to find a permanent solution to the perennial problem, Lovely said government would fix soon responsibility of officials of the concerned department.

North Delhi Municipal Commissioner P K Gupta, South Delhi Municipal Commissioner Manish Gupta and East Delhi Municipal Commissioner S S Yadav were among those present in the meeting, which was also attended by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satender Garg and senior engineers and officers of PWD, NDMC, DJB.

 

Expressing deep anguish on widespread water logging across the city following rains, Lovely directed all concerned officials to promptly attend to any complaint of water logging.

He also stressed on the need to have better coordination among all three municipal corporations and PWD.

Lovely said government has taken a number of steps to desilt the drains. A list of roads prone to water logging has been given by traffic police to concerned agencies for taking all preventive measures.
