In association with NDTV, it had organised 'Coca-Cola NDTV Support My School Telethon 2013,' which aims at funds from eminent celebrities and garner support from corporate houses, NGOs, students and individuals, to improve the basic infrastructure across government schools in India, the company said in a statement.
Ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who is the brand ambassador of the campaign, attended the day-long event and was accompanied by celebrities like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ayushman Khurana, Cyrus Broacha, Boman Irani, among others.
While the Coca-Cola Foundation committed Rs 2.5 crore towards the campaign, organisations like UN-Habitat pledged Rs 94 lakh, Tetra Pak Rs 20 lakh, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Rs 25 lakh and SRF Foundation Rs 10 lakh.
'Support My School' is an initiative of Coca-Cola with NDTV, UN-Habitat, Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), Worldvision, Plan, Pearson Foundation and Tata Teleservices.
