SSB Director General Arun Chaudhary said such cameras will soon be installed at other areas along both the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders.
"Cameras have already been installed at three places. The technology will help the force personnel in strengthening intelligence and surveillance," Chaudhary said at an annual press conference here.
The Internet Protocol (IP) based surveillance cameras have been installed at three important transit routes -- Sonauli (Maharajganj district), Barnhi (Siddharthnagar district) and Rupeidhia (Bahraich district) -- at the porous Indo-Nepal border.
"SSB has further identified some more important points on Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border where process for installation of IP based surveillance cameras is under way," he said.
The move assume significance as both the frontiers are porous and visa-free borders and it was difficult to monitor the large scale movement of men and material taking place there.
"The technology will help in keeping a strict vigil on the border," the official said.
