Acting on a tip-off, the police reached Dhamartul forest when the smuggler DharmeshwarBoro and his gang were illegally felling trees, official sources said.
The smuggler was arrested, but three accomplices managed to flee, they said.
A truckload of teak logs was seized during the operation by the Forest Security Force.
