The release date of the film, also starring Armie Hammer, has been postponed twice. It was set to release in December this year but was later pushed back to May 31, 2013.
Disney decided to delay the release further a month after hiring Alan Horn to head its film studio, the Variety reported.
The action-adventure, directed by Gore Verbinski, took over the slot that was just abandoned by Steven Spielberg's "Robopocalypse" and will now be competing against "Independence Day 3D" and "Despicable Me 2".
Based on a script written by Ted Elliott, Justin Haythe and Terry Rossio and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, "The Lone Ranger" stars Hammer as the titular hero, Depp as his side-kick Tonto, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, James Badge Dale, William Fichtner and Barry Pepper.
