The 41-year-old actor said that he is very excited about his forthcoming reunion with "Pain and Gain" director Michael Bay, reported Digital Spy online.

"I am really excited about 'Transformers'. Michael Bay and I just did Pain and Gain, and we had such a good time making it. He came to me and said, 'I'm kind of doing a whole different reboot on Transformers. Are you interested?' I said, 'Yeah, I will do it," Wahlberg said.

"I loved the idea, and I think we can make something really cool and kick-ass. This is not something where it's already established and I'm just in there to get a paycheck. I'm thinking this is the most important role of my career and I can do something really special.

"It is the only time my kids have ever been interested in a movie I am making," he added.

"Transformers 4" is scheduled to begin shooting in May for release on June 27, 2013.

Wahlberg will next be seen in "Broken City", which will debut on January 18, 2013, in the US and on January 25 in the UK.
