Tuki promises to increase corpus of Donyi Polo Schools

Tuki sought a detailed proposal from the school authorities for increasing the corpus which is at present Rs 5 crore.

The Donyi-Polo Mission was founded by former chief minister Gegong Apang in 1978 and the Donyi-Polo Mission School for the Hearing Impaired was established in 1990 with three children from Lower Dibang Valley. Since then 56 students have passed out from the school, which offers education up to class X.

There were plans upgrade the school to class XII.

The school for visually disabled was started in 2008 with 6 blind students from Kurung Kumey. The strength has now gone up to 22.
