The two persons, Badshah Ali and Sonowar Hussain, handed over a Rs 500 note to a petrol pump attendant at T N D Market at Kolgosia town who became suspicious and called his employer and staff, police sources said.
They caught hold of the two and called the police.
The police searched the Ali and Hussain and found a total of 12 notes which they admitted were counterfeit.
Both were arrested and taken to the Kolgosia police station.
