A total of 1,100 cartons of smuggled liquor, valued at Rs 35 lakh, were today seized after two people were arrested here in the district, an excise official said.
A team of the excise department intercepted the truck and seized the cartons of liquor, allegedly being smuggled from Haryana, excise officer Akhilesh Kumar said.
The two accused, identified as Ashok and Vijay Kumar, were arrested in this connection, he said.

"During interrogation, both the accused revealed of taking the smuggled liquor to Gorakhpur," the officer said.
A case has been registered under the Excise Act, he said, adding that the matter was being investigated.
