1.4 kg gold seized from passenger at Dibrugarh Airport

At least nine pieces of gold biscuits weighing 1.4 kg, worth over Rs 50 lakh in the international market, were recovered from the rectum of a passenger at the airport here by CISF personnel on Tuesday, an officer said.

The security personnel became suspicious as the 65- year-old passenger tried to avoid the metal detector door frame to go to the security hold area, the CISF officer said.

The gold biscuits were detected during security check when the passenger was allegedly trying to smuggle them in his rectum, the officer said.

The man was caught at the security hold area while on his way to board a flight to Delhi via Kolkata, the airline's Manager, Hemant Roy here told PTI.

 

The man was handed over to the Customs department, the officer added.
