1.5 lakh cases worth Rs 100 crore settled in National Lok Adalat

1.53 lakh cases were settled, out of which 47 thousand are pending matters and 1.06 lakh are pre-litigation matters

Around 1.5 lakh civil and revenue cases were Saturday settled in the National Lok Adalats held at all levels from the taluk courts to the High Courts across the country.

The National Lok Adalat, organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) along with the respective State Legal Services Authorities, dealt with 47,000 pending and 1.06 lakh pre-litigation matters.

NALSA in press release said that Saturday's total value of settlement reached was around Rs 100 crore.

"As per the figures received till 4.30 pm, around 1.53 lakh cases have been settled, out of which 47 thousand are pending matters and 1.06 lakh are pre-litigation matters. The total value of settlement reached today is around Rs 100 crores," it said.
 
NALSA added that the National Lok Adalat has benefitted the common man and has been achieved not only because of the Legal Services Authorities/Committees but also because of the cooperation extended by the Judges, Lawyers and other concerned authorities.

The National Lok Adalat was organized Saturday under the patronage of Chief Justice of India T S Thakur, and Justice Anil R Dave, who is also the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) across the nation (excluding Bihar and Madhya Pradesh) in all courts at all levels from the Taluk Courts to the Districts Courts and High Courts.
