: A total of 1,500 kg of ration rice, meant to be smuggled to Kerala from this district, was seized today from a goods autorickshaw, police said.
The seizure was effected during a check of vehicles in Sundarai area. The driver, who was detained, said the rice was meant to be smuggled to Kerala, police said.
Based on information given by him, another man who wanted to smuggle the rice to that state was arrested.
Police are on the lookout for two employees of ration shops in Thattankulam and Sundarapandiapuram, who supplied the ration rice to the duo.
