1 arrested in connection with Himachal CM's nephew's murder

Police today arrested one of the alleged accused involved in the murder case of nephew of Himachal Pardesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

"Harmehtab Singh alias Farid has been arrested from Haridwar in Uttrakhand," a police spokesman said here.

Yesterday a local court had rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of Farid, who on the run for a week, police said.

Farid was accompanying Balraj Singh Randhawa, who ran over the Chief Minister's nephew Akansh Sen in a BMW car, leaving Sen dead in Sector 9 here on February 9.

However, the main accused Randhawa is still at large, the official said.
 

Farid is the great grandson of former chief minister of PEPSU state Gian Singh Rarewale.

Police have sent 27 raiding parties to different places to raid all possible hideouts of the culprit, he said.

Sen, 28, who ran a cafe in Sector 9, was run over by the BMW car thrice and had suffered 13 grievous injuries, leading to his death.

Randhawa is a resident of Sector 77 near Sohana in Mohali, near here.
