A 22-year-old man was charred to death and another suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a shoe factory in Narela industrial area.

Babloo, who worked in the factory, was burnt to death, while his co-worker, Anil, suffered burn wounds and is undergoing treatment, police said.

The deceased was a resident of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh and was staying in Tikri Khurd village here.

An officer from Delhi Fire Services said the department got a call about the fire around 10.55 PM yesterday.

"22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The blaze could only be controlled by 6 AM today," he said.

Eyewitnesses told police that an electric spark in a machine kept on the second floor of the factory could have triggered the fire.

There were many workers inside the factory when the fire erupted but they jumped out of the building's balcony to rescue themselves.
