Police have arrested one person in connection with the firing incident here where a group of miscreants allegedly opened fire on a stationary college bus belonging to a local Congress MLA.
SSP, Batala, Inderbir Singh said Ashu Sharma, a resident of Ward Number 9 Majitha in Amritsar district, has been arrested on the basis of CCTV footage.
Police has seized the car used in the incident which belonged to Dharminder Singh, one of the assailants, he said.

The SSP said that assailants have fired at least seven rounds on the bus parked outside a college here to create terror among students so that they elect their supporter as the president of student union.
Police, however, did not disclose the name of their supporter.
No one was injured in the firing incident.
The other assailants have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, a resident of Nagoke, Jasbir Singh, a resident of Dhotian village, Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Chande village, Dharminder Singh alias Pinku, a resident of Tarpai village and Sukhpreet Singh, a resident of Chatha, police said, adding, efforts are on to nab them.
The accused persons were not student of the college.
The arrested accused Ashu Sharma has links with Sukhpreet Singh alias Heeri who wanted to elect his aide as president of the college.
Sukhpreet Singh was an under trial in the central jail Amritsar and at present is admitted in a hospital in the city, police said.
