1 kg gold seized at Indo-Nepal border

Security forces today seized one kg gold being smuggled from Nepal and arrested one person from a place in Bihar's East Champaran district.

Additional Chief Election Officer R Lakshamanan said that Shashtra Seema Bal (SSB) made the seizure from Bhelahi village on Indo-Nepal border.

Giving details at Motihari, Commandant of SSB 13 battalion Vikram Singh Thakur said that the person arrested with gold in the form of two biscuits has been identified as Sujit Kumar.

He hails from Bela village under Ramgarhwa police station area of East Champaran district and the gold biscuit has stamp of Switzerland.

The gold had been brought from Nepal and it was being investigated where it was being carried for trade, the officer said.
 

In view of elections, the security forces and other government departments have been keeping a close watch over movement of cash and valuables across Bihar.
