One kg of heroin, worth Rs 5 crore in the international market, has been seized by BSF personnel near Border Out Post Udhar Dhariwal sector.
DIG BSF Punjab Frontier R S Kataria today said the troops were on high alert as intelligence inputs were received regarding smuggling from the area of Border Out Post (BOP) Udhar Dhariwal.
BSF troops observed suspicious movements of Pakistan-based smugglers on the other side of fence near International Border on the intervening night of September 14 and 15.
When the smugglers started throwing the packet over the fence, BSF troops immediately challenged them to stop but Pakistani smugglers managed to escape taking the cover of darkness.
During search of the area, one kilogram of heroin was recovered near the fence, said Kataria.
