A man was killed and two others were injured today when a herd of elephants attacked a village in Nepal's southwestern Bardiya district, police said.

The elephants from the Bardiya National Park, the country's largest national park, attacked Praseni village at 7 AM, the Himalayan Times reported.

The elephants struck when the area was engulfed in winter fog amid poor visibility.

A local resident was killed while two others injured in the elephant attack. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police officials have been deployed in the area to control and send the wild elephants back to the forest, the report said.
