1 killed, 3 injured in IED blast in Pak's tribal belt

A tribal elder was killed and three others injured today in an improvised explosive device blast in Pakistan's restive northwest near the Afghan border.

The blast took place in Kosar area of tehsil Khar in Bajaur Agency.

Abdul Qadar Khan, a member of the peace committee, was going from his home in a vehicle along with his family members when he was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb in Kosar area.

After the blast, members of the village defence committee and local people rushed to the area and shifted the injured to agency headquarters hospital where Khan succumbed to his injuries.
 

Three people were injured in the incident, including a minor girl.

A doctor of the agency headquarters hospital Khar told that conditions of the wounded were stable.

Later, the security forces and members of the peace committees launched a search operation in the area.

At least six people, five of them anti-militant tribal elders, have been killed in several bomb blasts over the last eight days.
