1 killed, 4 injured in a failed suicide attack

A suicide attacker was today killed when he blew himself up in a rickshaw before reaching his target in Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan.

A senior police official said the bomber was going towards a target when he blew himself up inside a rickshaw near the congested Kati Pahari area of Orangi town here.

Four persons were also injured in the blast, police said.

"According to initial investigations by the bomb disposal squad the bomb exploded on the person of the suicide bomber and we also found live grenades near the blast site," an official said.

He said the bomb was around four to five kilomgrams and apparently exploded before the bomber could reach his destination.
 

"It was on his body indicating he was on a suicide attack mission," he added.
