1 killed in clash

One person was killed and at least 15

others injured today when two groups clashed and fired at each other over a dispute in Gamari village in Bharatpur district, police said.

The deceased was yet to be identified and some of the injured, which included women, were rushed to nearby hospitals under Jurehera police station, SP, Bharatpur, Sameer Kumar told PTI on telephone.

Extra force was rushed to the village, about 60 kms from Bharatpur, to maintain law and order as the situation was said to be tense, the SP said.

The incident occurred when members of a family strongly objected to stones blocking a passage leading to their house, he said.
 

The other group did not compromise, leading to first pelting of stones and then exchange of indiscriminate firing, in which one person succumbed on the spot and at least 15 persons sustained injuries, the SP said.

One person was detained in this connection and cases were being registered at Jurehra police station, he said.
