1 killed, two injured as they jump out of blazing vehicle

One person died and two others were injured when they jumped out of a vehicle after it caught fire at a village in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district today, police said.

The autorickshaw, carrying firecrackers, caught fire when a burnt cracker fell on it at Pedautapali village, Gannavaram police sub-inspector Mohd Sharif said.

In a bid to save themselves, the autorickshaw driver and two other occupants jumped out of it and got injured, police said.

One of them, identified as Sattibabu (24), succumbed to injuries at a hospital, while the condition of one of the injured was critical, they said.

The vehicle was a part of the convoy of Union Minister for Textiles K Sambasiva Rao, who is an MP from Vijayawada, and the firecrackers were brought by his followers, police said.
