Police has arrested one person in connection with the Sanganer violence for allegedly inciting a mob to go on a rampage over a petty issue of parking a bike, even as curfew was relaxed for eight hours in the area.
Chiman alias Mohammad Salam has been arrested and police are looking for a political angle, if any, behind the violence, as the accused is an active political worker and within a few minutes gathered many people and incited them.
"It was a non-issue which became ground for them to break law and disturb peace and communal harmony in the area. He is being questioned whether it was pre-planned and politically motivated," a senior police officer said.

"Today, the curfew was relaxed for eight hours starting 10 AM," he said.
Chiman had parked his motorcycle outside a house on Thursday last week, which was objected to by a local man.
Angered by this, he had called his friends and relatives who went on rampage and damaged several vehicles, entered into houses and misbehaved with people.
They also pelted stones at the policemen who were trying to control the situation and on the next day, miscreants set ablaze a religious school, following which police imposed had curfew.
Over 120 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence.
