The Punjab government today announced one per cent reservation in admissions for single girl child in the technical education institutions across the state beginning this year.
Calling it a historic decision to boost gender equality and eliminate discrimination against girls in education, Punjab Technical Education Minister Anil Joshi said, "single girl child will be able to avail one per cent reservation in all the engineering colleges, polytechnics, industrial training institutions of Punjab."
This decision will be implemented from current session, he said.
