1 worker killed in mine accident in China

One worker was killed and five others remain trapped in a flooded coal mine in China's northern Hebei Province, local officials said today.

The accident happened in a shaft in Xiandewang coal mine in Xingtai City at 7:30 p.M. Yesterday when 14 miners were working underground.

One was killed and eight managed to escape while the other five remain trapped, state run Xinhua new agency reported.

The rescue work in going on. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
