10,225 villages declared scarcity-hit in Rajasthan

The Government of Rajasthan has declared 10,255 villages in 17 districts as scarcity-hit following insufficient rainfall and other natural calamities, an official said today.

In view of scarcity, the state government has deferred the land-revenue collection in these villages till July 3, the official, quoting an order, said.

Among such villages, Ajmer has got 104 scarcity villages, Banswara 1501, Barmer 1507, and Jhalawar has 1072.

The district collectors and panchayt samiti chairmen have been directed to follow the orders with immediate effect.
