10 candidates in fray for top posts of 3 general insurance companies

Fresh round of talks likely to take place for insurers

Ten candidates were interviewed last week for the top posts of three state-owned general insurance companies, sources said.

The interviews were held in New Delhi for the chairman and managing director posts at Oriental Insurance, United India Insurance and Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC).

According to sources, the interviews were conducted by a six-member selection panel headed by Financial Services Secretary Anjuly Chib Duggal. Other members of the panel included IRDAI chairman T S Vijayan and former LIC chairman G N Bajpai. 

The panel had been divided on three sub-groups.

The post of AIC CMD fell vacant post elevation of its CMD P J Joseph as the member of IRDAI in March. The CMD posts of Oriental Insurance and United Insurance are vacant following superannuation of A K Saxena and Milind Kharat respectively.
 
While United India general manager A Hoda is working as officiating CMD at the company, Oriental Insurance's CMD post has been additionally given to its GM, Sujay Banarji. Economic adviser at finance ministry, R N Dubey has been given additional charge of CMD of Agriculture Insurance Company.

The candidates who appeared for the interview were from companies such as United India Insurance, National Insurance, New India Insurance, Agriculture Insurance Company and Oriental Insurance, sources said.
