10 injured in grenade attack

Ten persons were injured

as suspected NDFB (Songbijit) militants exploded two hand grenades injuring 10 persons in Assam today on the eve of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to the state tomorrow.

Two grenades were hurled by two motorcycle riders at Gasbari daily market near Goreswar bordering Kamrup and Baksa districts at around 6.10 pm injuring 10 persons, police sources said.

Nine of the critically injured were referred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, the sources said.

Police and Army have cordoned off the area where the anti-talk NDFB (Songbijit) faction is active.
