10 inmates injured in clash in district jail

Ten inmates were injured in a clash between two rival groups over old enmity in district jail here, police said today.

The two group of inmates yesterday clashedwith bricks and rods in the jail, jail Superintendent Rakesh Singh said.

On receiving information, senior district officers including District Magistrate D K Singh and SSP K B Singh rushed to the jail and the situation was brought under control, he said.

The injured inmates including Akbar, Furkan, Waseem and Sanewar were shifted to jail hospital, he said.

Security has been tightened in the jail after the incident, the Superintendent said, adding, additional police force and PAC has been deployed.
