Police officials said five people were killed and two injured in the Mauripur road area as a result of clashes between rival groups.
"The clashes were between members of the Lyari gang war who are on the run after the recent clean- up operation in Lyari," one official said.
Another activist of the Mutthaida Qaumi Movement was killed in the PIB colony area when armed gunmen opened indiscriminate fire, injuring six others.
Police said three dead bodies apparently a result of target killings were also found from the Liaquatabad and Mauripur areas.
Police also claimed to have arrested two hardened criminals with ammunition and mobile phones from Korangi after a encounter.
"One of the arrested criminals was wanted in target killing cases," DSP Qasim Ghouri said.
The ongoing violence in Karachi since last month has claimed lives on daily basis including that of political activists of different parties.
