As many as 10 people, including two police constables, were today killed and over 20 others injured in separate road accidents in Punjab and Haryana which took place primarily because of low visibility due to fog this morning, police said.
In Haryana's Hisar district, four persons were killed and six others including school going students were injured in a head-on collision of a school bus and a school staff van, near Chirod village, on Hisar-Siwani road, they said.
Low visibility on account of fog was said to be the reason behind the accident, the police said.

The deceased were identified as school teachers Preeti, Jyoti and Kusum, and van driver Sanjay, all residents of Hisar district.
The second accident occurred in Yamunanagar district of Haryana, four persons were killed and six others injured when a private bus hit a motorcycle on the Bilaspur-Jagadhri road, the police said.
After hitting the motorccycle, the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned, they said.
The deceased were identified as Raj Kumar, Rahul and Rinku, residents of Yamunanagar who were riding the bike, and bus passenger Charanjit Singh, a resident of Bathinda.
The private bus was carrying pilgrims, who had arrived from Punjab for the Kapal Mochan fair in Yamunanagar.
Six other passengers also got injured and they were admitted to a hospital.
A 26-year-old Punjab Police constable died after he rammed into a stationary trolley laden with sand on highway near Uggal Aulakh village in Punjab's Amritsar district, police said.
Bau Singh was going to his office in the morning when the accident took place, police said, adding the constable rammed into the trolley as he could not see it because of fog.
Another Punjab Police constable Harish Chander (40) was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a truck on Fazilka- Ferozepurn road in Guruharsahai in Punjab's Ferozepur district, they said.
The accident occurred when he was on his way to office at 8.30 am, police said, adding he died while being taken to hospital.
In Punjab's Moga district, five persons sustained injuries when a private bus rammed into a minitruck coming from opposite direction near Rajeana village, police said.
The bus collided with a mini-truck after being hit by another bus from behind, police said, adding that the accident took place due to fog.
In another accident which occurred in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, seven persons sustained injuries when a tempo carrying pilgrims from Amritsar fell into a river near Dashua after driver failed to see the water body because of foggy weather, the police said.
Pilgrims were going towards Dera Baba Vadbhag Singh in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, police said, adding that injured were admitted to local hospital.
