10 policemen suspended for extorting money from truckers

Ten policemen have been suspended on charges of extorting money from truckers in Bihar's Jehanabad district, a police official said today.

Acting on complaints by some truck drivers, ten policemen were placed under suspension yesterday, Superintendent of Police Aditya Kumar said.

The ten included Inspector Krishna Kumar posted at Town police station and Assistant Sub-Inspector N Pandey of Makhdumpur police station, he said.

The SP said he had received complaints from the truckers about illegal collection of money by some policemen in the district and had ordered a probe in the matter before cracking the whip against the errant cops on the basis of report.
